8 – Bram Bei / The house with the horizontal cladding

Suite Lodge – One bedroom

Description:

House Bram Bei is one of the few houses at Sala Lodges distinguished by its horizontal wooden cladding, a characteristic that gives it a strong architectural identity and a slightly more contemporary feel within the traditional Khmer structure.

Originally built in 1965 in the village of Yeang, in the Russey commune of Siem Reap province, the house was home to a couple who specialised in the sale of prahoc, Cambodia’s traditional fermented fish paste. Like many families of their generation, they chose to sell their house in order to build a more modern home, allowing this one to be preserved and relocated.

Inside, the house offers a light and soothing atmosphere, enhanced by soft pastel blue tones and natural materials. The bedroom opens onto a charming private terrace, subtly defined by its gently angled wooden balustrade — an inviting spot to relax and enjoy the surrounding greenery. A bright bathroom with a walk-in rain shower completes this peaceful and elegant retreat.
