6 – Bram mouy / The fishmongers’ house

Suite Lodge – One bedroom

Description:

House Bram Mouy is one of the oldest houses at Sala Lodges, dating back to 1958. Originally located in the village of Or, in the Sang Voeuy commune of Siem Reap province, it reflects the modest elegance and functionality of traditional rural Cambodian homes.

The house once belonged to Mao Heng, a fishmonger who later passed his business on to his son. Like many families of his generation, he chose to sell his house in order to build a larger and more modern home, allowing this one to be preserved and relocated.

Inside, the house offers a warm and intimate atmosphere. Slightly smaller than some of the other houses, it opens onto mature trees and gardens, creating a feeling of closeness to nature. The bedroom is decorated in soft turquoise tones, while the terrace faces south-east — an ideal orientation to enjoy the changing light and gentle Cambodian sunsets. A spacious bathroom with a walk-in rain shower completes this serene retreat.
